Cat Woman

Cat Woman, by British oil painter Martin Allen, is an original artwork painted onto a linen canvas in fine oil paints.

The methods he uses to paint are often classic ones, using layered paint applications rounded off by oil glazes. These create, add depth and harmonise colours. Cat Woman being a great example of this.

Martin Allen’s work aims to capture the exhilaration or thrill of the moment and translate that onto the canvas. The light and the colours are all in the narrative, but he tries to present an ethereal dreamlike quality to the work, emphasising a fleeting, ephemeral heartbeat in time.

Having drawn for most of my life, I came to oil painting through a circuitous route. Eventually being re-introduced to painting as my preferred medium to create my work.

Martin Allen has exhibited all over the world. Most recently, three of his oil works (including Cat Woman) were exhibited with Runway Gallery for our London Fashion Week takeover for Fashion Scout at Victoria House, London.
